Daniel Mortier
Broker/Partner
Daniel Mortier (Dan) started visiting Door County more than 25 years ago while growing up in Appleton, Wisconsin. Those visits became more frequent and eventually led to summer jobs through his college years. Dan obtained a BA in political communication from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and considered settling down for a career in the political arena. But… Door County beckoned. He moved back and has never felt anything but “at home” in this great community. Dan began his real estate career in 1993 and spent the next decade in a Fish Creek brokerage, where he became a Senior Sales Associate and Director of Marketing. He obtained his real estate Broker’s license in 2003 and went on to form his own company and worked closely with a development team to create a new residential community near Sister Bay. In early 2008, the True North Partnership was formed and met with instant success in a turbulent time for the real estate market. Dan feels fortunate to be one of five dedicated Partners who continue to meet the needs of their customers and clients with passion and a thoughtful approach based on years of experience.
“It may sound trite, but I love what I do,” Dan remarks. “There’s real satisfaction that comes from helping someone fulfill their dreams of home ownership – be it with a first-time buyer or the person achieving their goal of acquiring a Door County vacation home.“
Outside of real estate, Dan has been involved with Door County’s Habitat for Humanity affiliate for nearly a decade, with over six years as a member of the Board of Directors and site selection Chair. He also spent over three years as a Supervisor on the Liberty Grove Plan Commission. During his term its members co-created the township’s Smart Growth Plan; addressing land use issues, economic development, infrastructure, and environmental concerns. Prior to that, he sat on the Board of Leadership Door County for several years, an organization with a goal of helping emerging leaders broaden their understanding of community issues.
Dan lives in the outskirts of Sister Bay and Ephraim in a farmhouse that he has spent years restoring. Dan enjoys working in his yard and garden and time with his friends and family.
